Meditate On Speech As The Self! O Mortal!

Verily without speech neither right nor wrong would be known.
Verily without speech neither the true nor the false would be known.
Verily without speech neither the good nor the bad would be known.
Verily without speech neither the pleasing nor the unpleasing would be known.
Meditate on speech as the self! O mortal!

Meditate on the mind which is greater than speech! O mortal!
Verily through your mind you learn the sacred hymns.
Verily through your mind, you perform sacred words.
Verily through your mind, you desire for sons and cattle.
Verily through your mind, you desire this world and yonder.
Verily you shall become independent so far as speech reaches! O mortal!
Meditate on speech as the self! O mortal!
